The City of Phoenix Street Transportation Department is planning on reinstalling speed humps in the Dave Brown Utopia Neighborhood.

The Problems of Speed Humps
Emergency Response Delays
Speed humps in our neighborhood could slow down ambulances, fire trucks and police cars. The first responders have to break for each speed hump which could delay critical response times.
Ineffectiveness in Speed Control
Many drivers slow down just before a speed hump and then speed up immediately after. This makes speed humps ineffective at reducing overall speeding.
Reckless drivers may even swerve to avoid them, creating a hazard for pedestrians.
Damage to Vehicles
Speed humps cause wear and tear on vehicles, including suspension damage, tire wear and undercarriage scraping.
This leads to higher maintenance costs for residents.
